Artist Statement
My artistic practice has been shaped by my education at the University of Victoria, where I recently completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on painting, drawing, and photography. Throughout my studies, I developed a deep appreciation for slow, intentional forms of creation—processes that reveal the significance of every mark and the careful thought behind each decision.
My work is guided by a commitment to precision, care, and attentiveness. Every detail is considered, each gesture meaningful. Through this approach, my hand as an artist becomes present and visible, grounding the work in a sense of quiet deliberation and emotional presence.
A central focus of my practice is bringing awareness to issues of animal conservation and the essential role animals play within our ecosystems. I use colour, composition, and contrast to create moments of reflection for the viewer—moments that invite them to pause, consider, and question. By blending elements of Pop Art with traditional techniques, I aim to present endangered species in a way that feels both contemporary and reverent, highlighting their individuality and vulnerability.
Ultimately, my work seeks to inspire understanding, compassion, and action. Through these paintings, I hope to contribute to the broader effort of protecting the species we still have the ability to save, and to remind viewers of our shared responsibility in preserving the natural world.
